Email server for Linux

Hi Lorenzo,

The ability to remote administer a UNIX based server does not seem to be
widely available. This is unfortunate, as Windows based mail servers have
sported this functionality for years. The mentioned Squirrel Mail is not a
web administrative interface. Instead, it is a good interface for users of
the mail server to retrieve and send their e-mail. It is a web-based e-mail
client.

I am aware of two solutions that provide web-based administration of an
e-mail server on a UNIX platform. Unfortunately, I do not yet have direct
experience with either.

The first is called Courier MTA. This is freely available. I've heard
mixed reviews of this; many administrators use only some of its modules.
Check it out at http://www.courier-mta.org and possibly try it out on a
non-production box if available.

The other solution is the commercial version of the venerable Sendmail MTA.
Check out http://www.sendmail.com for a product called something like the
Sendmail Switch...

Hope this helps.
