It appears the reason for the 2002 error coming back from mysql is that the user that tried to run mysql has first to be added to the mysql group. I don't know how to do that form of the useradd command. It uses useradd -G followed by a comma separated list of groups. -- Jude <dashielljt(at)gmpexpress-dot-net>
