More alsa problems

When you say "nothing can access," what do you mean?  Did you run the
"snddevices" script as root to make the device files?  What error do you
get?  Did you raise the volumes up to reasonable?  Although you could use
amixer or alsamixer, I like to use rexima to do it.  I set the volumes to
my liking and do a "alsactl store" at the end.  I put a line in
/etc/modules.conf like this:
post-install snd-card-0 /usr/sbin/alsactl restore
which assumes that snd-card-0 is already set up as an alias for your sound
card.
