To test if you have a live install of mysql, type mysql --help at the
linux prompt and if you get a long help screen, it's alive.  To start
learning how to use mysql, cd /usr/doc/mysql<tab>/Docs and type lynx
./manual.html.  Once the reference manual comes up type /[12]9 then type n
and hit enter.  That'll put you in the tutorial for setting up data bases
and using them.  hth.
