HELP!!! Can't compile speakup in Slackware kernel

I got the address from ifconfig.  It is the IP address currently assigned
by my ISP.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to specify an alternate
method that would get the currently assigned address so it would change if
my IP address changes.
