setting the mtu value in that other os.

I saw a reference last night on this list as to how to set the mtu value
for an ethernet nic
under that other. uh hem, os.
as things stand I have an interest here and would like to know how to
acces this setting.
could the person that posted said info to the list please write me
privately as I don't wanna bore everyone with talk of that other dreaded
hand holding os.
