Adam, thanks much! I found the needed modules in /modules/2.2.19-smp/ and fixed the kernel and modules mismatch by updating modules on hard drive. That was a strange problem. Now ppp-go -d works properly and perhaps my ethernet card will also work but that's for tomorrow night to find out.
