red hat 8.0 and the Speakup Modified

any plans that anybody knows of to try and make speakup work with normal
sound cards?? it is very expensive to buy speech cards or synths around here
the cheapest i can even find is like $700 and thats not easy cash to come
by... anyways....

just wondering...
