pcmcia modems and linux

I'm curious. I don't know anything about pcmcia modems for laptops. I'm
curious to know which ones work best with linux, and if the wvdialconfig
tool for redhat can be used to configure them, if not, then what can I use
to configure them and get it set up to be useable?
