8.0 problems.

Hello.
 Ok, the good news I now have Red Hat 8.0 installed, I can now log in fine,
and it is almost configured and ready to use. The bad news is something is
wrong with speakup.
Everytime I hit the backspace key, or try to use the numpad to review the
screen I here errors like, "command error in parameter. Command error in
string. Command error in 000."
Most of the other problems I've had I've been able to solve almost totally
on my own. This one has me stumped. Any ideas what is wrong, and how to
correct it?
