speakup.i SCSI problems

All that I've got here is slackware 8.0 and older versions of redhat.  I
got myself a slackware subscription but haven't received any disks from it
yet.  I'm pretty sure I checked start with current version or at least
hope I did.  Where I live it's a major struggle for Staples to keep any
redhat in stock.  The store buys it and sells out but won't buy any other
distributions.
