slackware 8.0 and missing pieces

Okay, I found out this system didn't come with sr_mod.o.gz and
interestingly there's a modprobe line for that module in rc.modules.
Since this is one of those modules cd burners need unless I can find
source code for it on this system and build the module this backup project
is dead in the water unless it's online.  I wonder if that was one of the
patches released by Swansea University for the scsi system.
