mike with alsamixer

Thanks for the mike and setting tips, Gene.
My mike is very simple, no batteries; just plugs into the computer period.
Changing the' Mic Boost (+20dB)' setting helped a great deal. I had tried to do
this in alsamixer with no effect, but once I figured out what control name to
type in I was able to do this in amixer. My Mic captuer also shows on. it sounds
pretty good now practicing with arecored.
