Hi folks.
On Monday I successfully installed Red Hat 7.2 kernel 2.4.9-21.
Initially I had problems with the ethernet cards, particularly getting the
modules to load, however; with some help from Bill Acker and a bit of
creative thinking on my own part all the hardware inside the box is up and
running.
Nevertheless, I do have one small problem.
I use cable internet to connect to the internet and as my machine's always
on I figured I would configure my machine so I could send and receive mail
using it, when the machine starts eth0 is configured to use my isp's dhcp
server and I can send out mail directly using the machine, however; the
box can't receive mail.
The error I get when I try to send mail to my machine is: connection
refused.
If anyone wishes to do any experimenting involving sendming mail to the
machine its ip is 209.128.49.233 hostname anomaly.homeip.net and you can
address testing messages to either ebarnes or root.
the thing I don't get is why sendmail isn't listening on port 25.
I read the linux howto for mail admins located at the ldp internet site
www.linuxdoc.org and found it very unhelpful though I must say that this
is the exception rather than the rule.
Normally I get alot of info from reading the docs at the ldp site,
especially the howto docs.
I'd appreciate any suggestions if anyone has anything to offer, also, in
regard to this help, is their a configuration file I could view and
possibly edit to aleviate my difficulties.
Thanks, feel free to reply on list or write to me directly at

Regards to all.
