mutt with speakup

I'm considering trying mutt but wonder what improvements I can expect over 
pine. 

After years of using Pine, mine is pretty snappy. Still, there are things 
that annoy me:
\
1.)	I hate all those announcements about char sets. Can mutt skip 
that?

2.)	Will mutt skip quoted text regardless of the marker used?
