partitioning linux

Hi,

I've not been following this thread, but the simple answer is:
If you have a large hard drive like more than 2 gb than use most of the disk for the root partition, and leave 128mb for a swap partition. The root partition should be of type ext2 (or reiser or ext3 if you are running a new distribution and are feeling adventurous), and the swap should be of type linux swap.
If your hard drive is so small that you can't spare 128mb then have twice as much swap as you have real ram. So that if you have 16mb ram and 800mb hard drive then you may have 768mb linux native and 32mb linux swap.
This is a rushed explanation, and my personal preference. There are entire articles based on how to partition a hard drive, and i'd be surprised if nobody replies to this email telling me I'm wrong!

Hope this helps you in some way.

Saqib
