Tom, The punctuation levels only range from 0 to 3. echo 3 >/proc/speakup/punc_level should give you all punctuation. For the speech rate, use echo ? >/proc/speakup/rate Depending on which synth you use, the ? will be different. I use an accent PC, and the range for me is 1,2,3,...D,E,F For a dectalk, the range is more like 1--500. Good luck! Larry
