SLACKWARE 7.1 INSTALLATION

Gregory,

I've tried mounting the cdrom but get the error "special device /dev/cdrom
not found" or something to that effect. I've also tried as you suggested to
insert the CDROM once the kernal has booted from the FP. This doesn't make
any difference. I used easy CD creator to write the slack 7.1 cd could this
have anything to do with it?

Have you tried manually mounting the cd-rom drive to see if it is accessable
with the command: "mount /dev"/cd-rom-drive" -r /cdrom"? I've also found
that one thing that could screw up accessing the drive with setup is if
there is a cd in the drive when the system boots (this seems to be true even
if your drive cannot boot cds). Put in the cd after the machine is done
booting, and see if that helps.
