Hi: hmmm, speakup isn't in there. Not surprising from what you've posted already - you've not yet installed your compiled kernel (that's if you've actually finished compiling it). I'd go through all the steps but it's way past bedtime here and as Kirk said, the READMe in /usr/src/linux covers it pretty well. Geoff.
