future speakup question

Hi all,

I was just wondering. Will future versions of speakup be able to support a synth attached to an usb to serial converter?
In previous discussion on this list about usb synths,
someone pointed out that if the kernel supports usb keyboards and mice from the start,
then it should also be able to support a usb synth.
This same principal is true for one of thoes converters, right?
