iptables

actually my problem is this, I'm trying to ftp to a friend's ftp server,
and for some reason the firewall is blocking it. but it does not block any
of the others I go to.  I need to find a way to either shutdown the
firewall, or find a way to force it to let me upload and download from
that server.
