Hey Greg, sorry didn't read your message very carefully--you were
inquiring for a friend.  Yes, there are very significant syntactical
differences between Linux's g77 and any FORTRAN 90 compilers out there.  I
think that your friend could probably buy a FORTRAN compiler for around
$200.00.  They should beware though, some of the compilers like NDP
FORTRAN have problems linking to gcc generated programs.  Of course things
could be worse and he/she could have to write in Cobol.

I really don't want to know if there are any Cobol compilers for Linux!
