blinux:installing linux on laptop via usb?

Hello,
	I just purchased a laptop which doesn't have a serial port. I'd like to
install Linux on it, such as Redhat, I'm wondering has anyone used an
USB2serial adapter to install either speakup or via a terminal
installation?
