Hi,  I can't comment on whether the kernels may have gotten compiled
incorrectly or not, Matt Campbell will need to answer that.  I have
seen that error though in other distributions when a file got
currupted while downloading or writing to floppy.  You might want to
try redownloading the image just for grins.
