braille n speak

i got my new cable for christmas.. it works under dos and windows with 
window eyes jaws for windows and vocal eyes. havent tried jaws for dos. 
doubt it even supports is.
but under linux all i hear form it is a "click" and it quits. what is going 
on? i did:
linux.bat
and all i heard is a click.
rom revision is july first 1995.
i got it working under vocal eyes and such, by doing:
a r- chord
dots 1 2 3 4 5 6
e-chord
can anyone help me on this?

that is the best thing i have besides a serial terminal. my school has a 
braille lite undergoing repairs, revison 1997.
