Speakup Sans Synth?

Hi:

It seems speakup 0.09 does not cope well with missing synths.  I know prior
versions coped much better.  My PC running 0.09 seems to cope OK too, so
it's probably a case for some selected synths.  It has always been the
intention that speakup-enabled kernels would cope with the synth not being
present.

As for swapping synths, this won't be possible till the synth driver
modules stuff has been done.  This is a big job and might take awhile.
