backspace key

Hi
I've got a slight annoyance with the backspace key with speakup.
This is the latest CVS version, dated december 8, but I've been having it
before with previous CVS versions.
Basically, with cursor tracking off, the backspace key will speak
the letter I've backspaced, followed by what's now under the cursor. This
is most commonly a space, except on search fields in lynx, where it is an
underline. So, assuming the character is the letter a, I here this:
a space
At times this can get a bit confusing. With cursor tracking on it
gets worse. Either it will just say space, or be a character off from the
character that was backspaced. So, if I had a word consisting of four
letters, and I backspaced over the last letter, I would hear the third
letter instead. Using the word "work" as an example, if I backspaced over
the k, I'd hear the r instead. This too gets confusing, especially when
editing.
Any other CVS users have this or a similar problem?
BTW: Other than the backspace problem, great job on the latest CVS
release. Cursor tracking is working well, and I like the pronunciation of
the extendec characters.
Jacob
