Hmm. ... You're probably getting dropped by your ISP's idle timer. Try
running fetchmail as a daemon with
set daemon 300

This will make fetchmail check your mail every 5 minutes once you start
fetchmail running. To stop fetchmail, type
fetchmail -q

Make sure you have execute permission set on your .fetchmailrc
